A LeBoeuf Rubbish Removal Garbage Truck Driver’s Day
While most of us are starting our mornings with a cup of coffee and the news, LeBoeuf’s truck drivers are already on the move before the sun rises. A day in the life of a truck driver isn’t as simple as just picking up trash—there are many logistics and regulations that go into the job to keep services at the highest standards we can provide. In this blog, we will go over a truck driver’s day, giving insight into the diligence they continuously follow to keep your town clean and safe.
Day in the Life of a Truck Driver
At 5:45 AM, our drivers arrive on-site to do their daily truck inspection tasks. This includes double-checking that there is enough fuel to complete the day’s route and ensuring that machinery is working correctly. Once the truck is ready to go, drivers pick up their tablet with the route schedule and are ready to begin their workday.
At 6:00 AM, our truck drivers begin their route. They record each stop with their tablets to make sure all pick-ups are completed while also noting any challenges. This includes taking pictures of overfilled carts, banned items, or carts not being properly placed.
Throughout the day, our truck drivers watch the cameras while dumping and record any discrepancies that occur during pickup. They are then either called in or messaged to the office. New stop locations are also recorded to keep track of new customers. Once all routes have been completed, our truck drivers head to the transfer station or recycling center for rubbish drop-off. After drop off, it is time to return to the shop, fuel up, and inspect the truck one last time for the day.
Sideloading Trucks vs Frontloading Trucks
The day can look a bit different for each driver as some work with our sideloading trucks that take care of our residential customers, while others tackle operations for commercial businesses and apartment buildings with frontloading trucks.
- Sideloading Trucks: These are the trucks you often see cruising your neighborhood, with a mechanical arm that does the heavy lifting. The arm is on the side of the truck for curb pickup.
- Frontloading Trucks: With a stronger mechanical arm located in the front of the truck, our frontloading vehicles lift larger waste management bins overhead. These trucks service apartment buildings, condominiums, and commercial businesses.
Tips to Make Garbage Day Easier
- Bring Out Garbage on Time: We never want to see anyone slipping down an icy driveway with their garbage a minute before pickup. Place your bins in an accessible spot at the end of your driveway the night before to make pickup easier for all.
- Schedule Additional Pickups: If you have larger items that do not fit in your garbage bin or dumpster, you can schedule a bulk-item pickup.
