Properly Bagging Trash and Cart Placement for LeBoeuf Rubbish Removal

No one likes to walk out of their house and realize they’ve missed garbage day or have to deal with spilled garbage from a badly aligned cart. And here at LeBoeuf Rubbish Removal, neither do we! We’ve put together this blog to go over tips and best practices for properly bagging trash and placing your cart to avoid littering garbage when our trucks come and pick them up. It prevents you from coming home to litter, improves your neighborhood and the environment, and ensures we can do our job as efficiently as possible.

Properly Bagging Your Trash for Pickup

Your particular town or municipality will have its own bylaws, which is also true for HOAs, condos, and apartments (learn more about apartment waste removal). The best practices for working with LeBoeuf are all about how garbage makes its way from your cart to our truck. Since the trash bin is picked up, tilted, and then inverted into the truck’s hopper, avoiding loose trash that can slip out during the process is key. Please bag all trash and make sure the bags are securely tied to prevent items from falling out once the truck’s arm lifts the cart into the air.

The Importance of Cart Placement

Of course, it’s not just what’s inside your garbage cart that matters. How and when you place the cart is also critical to making sure your home gets serviced, and the carts can be properly handled to avoid spillages or problems during servicing. Some tips to keep in mind:

  • Cart Orientation: Carts need to be placed facing the road, handle-side towards the house. If they are backwards, items can spill out when lifted. This causes garbage to fall to the street and can delay the route.
  • Timing for Pickup: Carts should be curbside by 6:00 AM on the pickup day. We suggest you always place it out the night before to avoid any last-minute rushes or delays in the route while we wait for you.
  • Keep the Area Clear: Place the cart at least three feet away from any other fixed object (mailbox, car, etc.) and each other. Don’t place them below low-hanging wires as the carts go upwards of 13 feet in the air during pickup. If it’s been snowing, ensure the cart is clear of snowbanks and can be moved freely.
